Subject: Request for Your Leadership on Behalf of Korean American Vietnam War
Veterans
Dear Chairman Moran,
I am Sam I. Chang, President of The Korean American Vietnam War Veterans Association
SW Region.
On behalf of our members, I respectfully request your leadership in addressing an important
matter affecting Korean American Vietnam War veterans who fought alongside United States
Armed Forces during the Vietnam War.
Many of these veterans are now proud U.S. citizens. Like American veterans, they were
exposed to Agent Orange and continue to suffer from serious service-connected illnesses.
We respectfully ask the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs to review existing
policies and ensure that eligible Korean American Vietnam War veterans receive fair
consideration under applicable federal law.
Our request is based on one simple principle: those who served shoulder-to-shoulder with
American forces in defense of freedom deserve fair and equitable treatment.
We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to provide additional information or meet with
your staff regarding this important issue.

베트남전 당시 미군과 함께 싸웠던 재미 베트남전 참전용사들에게 영향을 미치는 중요한 사안을 해결하는 데 있어, 위원장님의 리더십을 발휘해 주시기를 회원들을 대표하여 정중히 요청드립니다.
이들 참전용사 중 다수는 현재 자랑스러운 미국 시민입니다. 미국 참전용사들과 마찬가지로, 이들 또한 고엽제(Agent Orange)에 노출되었으며 복무와 관련된 심각한 질병으로 계속 고통받고 있습니다.
저희는 상원 보훈위원회가 기존 정책을 검토하고, 자격을 갖춘 재미 베트남전 참전용사들이 관련 연방 법률에 따라 공정한 대우를 받을 수 있도록 조치해 주시기를 정중히 요청합니다.
저희의 요청은 자유를 수호하기 위해 미군과 어깨를 나란히 하고 복무한 이들은 공정하고 형평성 있는 대우를 받을 자격이 있다는 단순한 원칙에 근거하고 있습니다.
이 중요한 사안과 관련하여 추가 정보를 제공하거나 귀하의 보좌진과 면담할 기회를 주신다면 대단히 감사하겠습니다.
