Dear Senator Andy Kim,
I am writing on behalf of The Korean American Vietnam War Veterans Association SW
Region to respectfully request your support in ensuring the full implementation of the Korean
American VALOR Act (Public Law 118-20).
Thousands of Republic of Korea veterans fought alongside American forces during the
Vietnam War, and many later became proud American citizens. Congress recognized their
sacrifice by passing the VALOR Act.
However, despite the law's enactment, many eligible veterans have yet to receive the
intended health care benefits. We respectfully ask your office to work with the Department of
Veterans
Affairs to determine the current implementation status and encourage the completion of all
remaining administrative requirements.
Many of these veterans are now elderly and coping with serious service-related illnesses.
They should not have to wait any longer for the benefits Congress intended them to receive.
Thank you for your leadership and your continued support of our nation's veterans.

저는 '재미 베트남 참전용사 협회(Korean American Vietnam War Veterans Association) 남서부 지부'를 대표하여, '재미 베트남 참전용사 VALOR 법(Korean American VALOR Act, 공법 118-20)'이 온전히 이행될 수 있도록 의원님의 지지를 정중히 요청드리고자 이 편지를 씁니다.
수천 명의 대한민국 참전용사들이 베트남 전쟁 당시 미군과 함께 싸웠으며, 그중 다수는 훗날 자랑스러운 미국 시민이 되었습니다. 미 의회는 VALOR 법을 통과시킴으로써 이들의 희생을 인정하고 예우했습니다.
그러나 법이 제정되었음에도 불구하고, 자격 요건을 갖춘 많은 참전용사가 당초 의도된 의료 혜택을 아직 받지 못하고 있습니다. 이에 귀하의 의원실에서 보훈부(Department of Veterans Affairs)와 협력하여 현재 이행 상황을 파악하고, 남아 있는 모든 행정 절차가 조속히 완료되도록 힘써 주시기를 정중히 부탁드립니다.
이들 참전용사 중 다수는 현재 고령이며, 복무와 관련된 심각한 질환으로 고통받고 있습니다. 이들이 의회가 의도한 혜택을 받기 위해 더 이상 기다리게 해서는 안 될 것입니다.
의원님의 리더십과 우리나라 참전용사들에 대한 지속적인 성원에 깊이 감사드립니다.
